About SO IT IS.

Experience isn't something you can download.

SO IT IS. was founded on a simple belief: the most valuable business advice often comes from people who've already faced the challenges you're dealing with.

Experience brings perspective, judgement and an understanding of what it really takes to make things happen.
The philosophy

A different kind of advisory relationship.

The best advisers work alongside leadership teams, combining independent perspective with practical operating experience.

Joe does not replace the expertise already within a business. He complements it, challenges it constructively and brings additional experience when it matters.

The philosophy is subtly informed by the role of a maritime pilot: an experienced professional who comes aboard to help navigate unfamiliar or challenging waters without replacing the captain. The leadership team remains in command; Joe adds judgement, perspective and support where it counts.

Founder / Senior Operating Adviser

Joe King

Joe is an international, commercially focused senior executive with more than 20 years' experience leading complex, customer-facing and service-led businesses across the UK, Ireland and internationally.

His career spans world-class golf destinations, major stadia and live-event venues, global facilities management, healthcare and large multi-site portfolios. He has held direct P&L responsibility of up to £75m, led a delivery network of more than 2,000 people across 13 countries and worked at the interface of executive management, boards, trustees, clients and investors.

As a COO, Joe has led a complex golf and hospitality organisation, working directly with trustees and holding statutory directorships across four subsidiary companies.

What Joe brings is practical judgement: the ability to get under the skin of a business quickly, create clarity around performance and risk, and translate strategy into accountable action. He has led growth, transformation, mobilisation, contract stabilisation and major capital investment, always with responsibility for the people and outcomes, not simply the recommendation.

More than advice. A different perspective.
